Visual Testing Lighting Requirements
Not all lights are equal. Codes and specifications usually mandate a specific intensity of lighting required to perform a visual inspection. Some of the major concerns are shadows and glares caused during the visual process.
A glare can easily blind an inspector momentarily while a shadow can easily hide a defective indication from ever being seen. A properly qualified and certified VT Visual testing NDT level II technician is trained to be aware of the possible distractions of the process including ensuring the lighting requirements are appropriate for the surface finish being inspected.
